As she ran ahead, Charvi kept looking around with fear at the thought of the mercenaries finding them again. Heart pounding, panting as they race across the forest in hopes to escape the never ending violence of their home. She glances behind her, relief spreading at the sight of Alyanna right on her trail before hearing the dogs. Forcing herself to run faster, she leads Alya towards the wet areas of the forest, grunting as solid ground turn to mud and puddles filled with unknown dangers. She almost fell forward as the ground seem to swallow her foot but Alya caught her and pull her back up, not stopping at all as she pulls her along. “We need river,” Alya huff as they ran through the thick mud. “Throw dogs off our scent…”
“Up ahead...just jump in river…” Alya didn’t finish her sentences as the baying of the dogs got louder and closer, making sure Charvi didn’t trip of get stuck. Her own running drastically slow down by the large shield that she carried. She practically rips her legs with every step as the mud almost felt like glue. It didn’t take long till they reach the roaring river, almost covering the sounds of the dogs and shouts of men. Even though they sounded closer than ever before. Alya curses to herself before looking down at the rapids and further down the river, noticing all the obstacles.
“Alya, is this really a good idea?” Charvi question, noticing Alya’s fear fill gaze as she looks at the river.
“I...I don’t know!” she huffs before glancing behind her, seeing the large dogs rushing towards them. “Hold your breathe!” Alya warns, waiting till Charvi took a deep breathe in and pushes her into the water. She quickly follows after, grunting at the weight of her shield, pulling her down instead of with the rapids. Cursing at having to lose their last line of defense, Alya cut of the straps of the shield and quickly let the water take her to Charvi who was gripping the walls near one of the ridges…
“A-Alya!” Charvi calls out before coughing as water splashes into her mouth, accidentally letting go of the edge. The rough rapids of the river pull the smaller teen underwater for a few moments making Alyanna panic. She quickly swims towards the redhead, quickly grabbing her partner and pulls her up above the water, swimming towards the edge to control how much they hit. She looks up at the river banks, noticing a few men and dogs looking for them. Alya curls herself around Charvi the best she can, hoping the river will drag them further away from the chaos. Her eyes squeezing shut as she protects the redhead’s head and neck as they were tumble around by the river’s currents.
Eventually the river starts to calm down as they reach a small pond. Alya was barely conscious as she drape around Charvi, grunting weakly at the sharp pains in her limbs and muscles making her want to pass out. Both girls slowly drag themselves to shore, collapsing near the edge, coughing and hacking out water.
Alyanna drops and rolls onto her side with a loud groan and winces at the sharp pains in her body. “I...I think we may broke something…”
“I told you it was a bad idea,” Charvi spats as she crawls further onto shore, collapsing on her side in front of ALyanna. “Never again…”
“Promise...How you feeling?” Alyanna asks before hacking up more water, gagging in pain. Her limbs trembling, barely able to hold her up before she collapses again.
It took awhile for the girls to catch their breaths before getting up to make their way to their new home. They’re both hunch over, easily one could see how weak they were making them easy targets to some. “W-we need to make shelter...Don’t have much energy and must check injuries…” Charvi says as she wraps an arm around Alyanna to help them both.
“SHelter...away….river…” Charvi said, making Alyanna was close to grab her properly. They lean against each other as they continue to walk. Both were nearly panting as both experience sharp pains all over their bodies, wishing for shelter to suddenly appear as the sky got darker.
